Welcome
I’m Rebecca Mahoney, a writer and solo traveler who created this site to encourage more women to step outside their comfort zones, embrace the kindness of strangers, and experience the world on their own terms. I hope Her Seven Continents helps you feel inspired, informed, and excited for whatever journey comes next.

Her Seven Continents is a space for women who are passionate about travel and curious about exploring the world solo. Whether you're dreaming of your first solo trip or you're already a seasoned traveler, this site is here to inspire, support, and empower you to take that next adventure with confidence.

Here, you’ll find personal stories and honest advice about what it’s really like to travel solo—whether that’s going on an African safari alone, exploring Egypt or Turkey as a woman, or taking a solo road trip. I share insights from my experiences across 50+ countries to help you see what’s possible and how transformative solo travel can be.

My Story
My journey as a solo traveler started in my twenties with small weekend trips around Florida, where I was working as a journalist. At first, it was just about seeing new places, but I quickly realized that traveling alone gave me something more: confidence, independence, and a deeper connection to the world around me.
Those short getaways turned into longer trips, first across the U.S., then internationally. Over the years, I’ve explored more than 50 countries across six continents, with a lifelong goal of visiting all 50 U.S. states (only nine to go!) and all seven continents. My travel goal for 2025 is to visit Antarctica, to witness its breathtaking wilderness and wildlife—and to finally achieve my lifelong dream of reaching all seven continents as a solo female traveler.

That philosophy has shaped not just how I travel but how I see the world. Traveling solo has introduced me to the extraordinary kindness of strangers—people who have welcomed me, helped me, and reminded me, time and again, that the world is full of generosity and goodness. Those interactions have shaped my belief in people and deepened my commitment to traveling with empathy and respect. I blog about these experiences, sharing stories of kindness, adventure, and personal growth through travel. Exploring South Africa, Turkey, and Canada—three of my favorite countries—reinforced my passion for cultural connection, environmental preservation, and advocacy for marginalized women and children.

I’d love to hear about your own travel journey—connect with me on Instagram or LinkedIn! Let’s share stories, trade recommendations, and keep discovering the world together.
